Psychedelic Friday - Purple, Orange and Yellow

Today was an exhausting day, mentally, with a huge task assigned to me by my boss, requested by corporate. I spent the day with my head down, trying to get as much of it done as I could. I'm used to quick, multiple tasks over my day, so changing to a deep-focus, large task was tough. I did a big chunk of it, though, and now, time to relax! It's the weekend!
Kicking some colour into gear - we had a glorious, sunny and warm day (15 degrees!), and my colours felt perfectly right.

  • Cardigan - Gap, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in September 2016 with the Spanish ladies dress
  • Dress - Etro, thrifted; first worn here (3rd outfit, past the concert pictures) in October 2016 with orange under it
  • Shoes - Nine West, thrifted; purchased here for $18.95
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather

Freshly re-purpled hair as of last night. Thank goodness with my hair longer, I can hide the splatty edges!

I loved wearing this gorgeous dress again - the colours and the giant paisley patterns are so fun. There's even tiny little "Etro" signatures all over it. Yes, it's really Etro Milano, made in Italy, and is probably from the 90s. Can you believe I paid $6.00 for it in the St. Vincent de Paul?? Check out their current line of dresses here* - they certainly love pattern! Etro was founded in 1968 and is still a family business (Etro is their last name) - they are known for their use of paisley.
*linking 'cause I love!

We visited an Etro store in Florence a few years ago, and had a wonderful experience there (bought L an awesome pair of trousers), and this is the second Etro piece I've found second-hand in Victoria, along with this blazer.

I wore a mustard cami underneath it - it's a bit boobtastic otherwise.
I covered up with this cheery citrus orange cardigan - the perfect weight. I wore it outside to grab my lunch on its own - the first non-coat outing of the year! Woo!

Outerwear. It was too chilly this morning not to have a coat on.
I do love my yellow leather.

The stuff:
First wearing of these shoes, and they were...a B+. I love the look of them, and while they didn't rub anywhere (I had nylons on), they do cause the toes to pinch on one foot. The curse of the 80s pointy-toe shoes comes back to haunt me. I now regret walking miles in stilettos after dancing for hours when I was younger! No, wait, I don't, ha! But my feet pay the price. I will probably hang onto these shoes for another wear or two, but I might have to pass them along.

Colourful bling:
I love this necklace and earring set - I really liked how they worked with the outfit.

  • Earrings/necklace - Murano glass from Venice, gift from L
  • Lapis lazuli/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

I have a few fun events planned for this weekend - see you Sunday for the wrap-up!

  1. I noticed your necklace too. It did a fine job of bringing out all the colors you were wearing. A great choice!

  2. Shame about the shoes as they are pretty! I really like all the colours in your outfit too, although I had a giggle you were excited to go jacket-less as I was excited yesterday to get all my jeans out for the first jeans wearing of the year, haha! More colorful cardigans like this are on my wishlist to buy this winter.

    1. Well, I'll try the shoes again and see how they go. Thank you - ha, you are in the opposite mode from us with Winter coming! Bright cardis are always a plus.

  3. This ensemble says it is time to celebrate spring. What wonderful colors and perfect accessories. It also seems like it was deceivingly comfortable for work. A suggestion for the shoes is to store them with a cotton sock or two shoved very tightly in the toe. It has worked for me. I also read another blogger who put water in a sealed plastic bags then placed that in the shoes and placed them in the freezer for the water to expand and stretch the leather. May be worth a try even though I know with my luck I'd probably land up with wet shoes.

    1. Aw, thank you, Chalotalo! I like your ideas for the shoes - I have heard of a wet sock as well to stretch out toes. I think I can risk it!

  4. Such yummy colours in this outfit! Nice score on the Etro dress. I wore pointy toed flats all through the 80's and I wonder if that contributed to my current bunion situation. No more pointy-toes for me!

    1. I still giggle over good scores on my clothes. I think it was those pointy-toe shoes that wrecked our feet!

  5. A fabulous ode to spring here Sheila. And those shoes are lovely. I get the same thing with pointy shoes too. I suppose our feet really aren't shaped like that are they? I wore pointy boots to work yesterday and by mid afternoon I had to get Polly to pull them off for me as my feet had swollen so much! And no, that wasn't in her job description!

    1. Thank you! No, those pointy shoes are murder on the toes. And it only gets worse as we get older, doesn't it? Dang!

  7. That is a great dress and for 6.00 an Etro dress was a bargain ! They just opened a shop here and its always empty.. I am guessing because of the prices. This dress has a Pucci feel to it and I can also imagine it being worn with "our" Tsubo shoes.

    1. Yes, they are not cheap! "Our" shoes would have been perfect with it - I got rid of mine a few years ago, though. They had a good run. :)
