Pink and Rainy Pleats, and a Sizzle

It's been so fun, doing a theme this week - I love a challenge to spark creativity. Pink!
Pink cashmere this time, in the form of this lovely sweater.

  • Sweater - no label, thrifted; last worn here in May 2016, on my mom's birthday
  • Skirt - Jack, thrifted; first worn here in January with this same necklace
  • Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last seen here in June 2016 with cranes and yellow
  • Coat (below) - Samuel Dong, thrifted

I only worked two hours of overtime tonight instead of five. I'm winning! My very smart boss suggested that I cut out early on Friday - I think I might just do that.

I loved wearing this rainy floral pleated skirt again.
Very appropriate, since it's been raining off and on all day. Victoria gets sprinkles all spring - our exception was last year when it was so hot for months on end. No wonder I didn't wear this sweater all summer!

Outerwear:
Cool enough to need a coat - the same Smoking Lily (consignment) scarf with the spores and amoebas on it kept my neck warm.

My additional accessory is my umbrella, brolly, bumpershoot, parapluie, whatever you might call it! I have only shown it twice on the blog: here, when I got it for Christmas in December 2011 (some good pictures there of what it looks like), and once here a couple of months later (hey, I only had that turquoise streak in my hair for two weeks!) in Feb 2012.

I love the swirly pink and orange designs on the top. The orange fabric on the inside also has a message:
I sizzle in the drizzle! Yeah, baby! The brolly is by Cheeky, and L bought it for me at the grocery store as a Christmas present, after I admired them all hanging above the cashiers. I'm linking here, 'cause I love, and also because this is the best quality umbrella I've ever had. Good strong automatic pop-out mechanism, but easy to close. The handle is plastic coated with rubber and it's lightweight to carry. Recommended! No kickbacks here, kid (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Again, linking 'cause I love...and ooh! a newer version of "Sizzle" is on sale here for only $25! Ha, I'm a total shopping enabler!

The stuff:
I was so happy to have these lovely blue and white shoes back in my wardrobe! These are super-comfy shoes, although I wore my white floral Docs for the overtime work. The eagle-eyed among you may notice that they match these...which I will be wearing tomorrow.

Green bling:
Yay for matchy! And sparkly!

  • Necklace - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Earrings - Stella and Dot, consignment
  • Bracelet - vintage 60s, Mom's

  1. Oh I had no idea that was the French word for umbrella, how cool! I had to go look up how to pronounce it, so much more fun to say than umbrella. It's a very pretty one too, I like the little hidden message.

I need to do something like your pink challenge in my wardrobe. I usually do instagram style challenges but I've been finding them more stressful than fun lately, as the challenges for each day aren't always suitable for life with two toddlers. Right now I'm just trying to enjoy the last of my warm weather clothes as the weather cools a little, which is nice as it's given me a little more inspiration. A theme week will be next when I get unmotivated again! :)

    1. Well, that's so cool - and now you know! A mini challenge like this can be great for sparking inspiration. I find any kind of restriction like that will do - it's more fun! Good luck!

  2. I really like that floral pastel combination Sheila.
Now that you mention your umbrella, I have been wanting to invest in a good umbrella. At a moment I had about 5 and then lost 3 and now I'm down to two ugly ones that are barely functional...
Oh and I have said it before, I own the sister necklace to yours ;)

    1. Thank you, Lorena! Go for a Cheeky one so we can be umbrella sisters!

I know, we will have to coordinate a matchy day!

  3. This ultra feminine look is gorgeous on you Sheila. Really pretty sweater and just right to go simple against the pleated skirt. And the shoes, let's not forget to give them a mention - adorable!
