Bounce-Back in Black

After yesterday's not-quite outfit, I thought I was all sorted out for today. This is not what I started with.
I feel much better in this outfit, although the necklace is fighting with the necklace of the dress.

  • Dress -  Elie Tahari, consignment; last worn here in October 2015 with just the dress
  • Boots - BCBG Max Azria; first worn here last week with a Florence dress

My first outfit was a mustard blouse with my Dolce & Gabanna skirt - same boots/tights. Nope, nope, nope, good in concept, but not in execution. The proportions were all wrong. Jeez, I thought had capsules all sorted out by now! Just shows you're always learning, growing and moving on.

I do feel like I was doing too much with this dress - it's a fabulous piece and just stands on its own so well - it doesn't need all these gew-gaws.
The belt never did sit at the right spot, and the boots lost their impact under the hem. I guess this means I need more short skirts ("YES!" shouts L). Heh.

The stuff:
Such big boots, you get to see L's geek-out DM books.

Overblown bling:
I still loved wearing all these pieces, even though the dress didn't need 'em.

  • Necklace - gift from L
  • Belt - Mimi di N, thrifted
  • Ring - local
  • Earrings - local

All right, tomorrow is another day - that happens to be Friday - and another outfit!

  1. The boots actually look like leather pants in this.
I love the shine of the belt buckle and the style is perfect with the pattern on the dress. Pity it didn't stay put!
Short skirts would work well, but this look is fun too.

  2. "Yes to shorter skirts" shout men everywhere. A smart woman in a short skirt, nothing like it, says my guy. Great dress and boots. xox

  3. I like the look but also agree on the dress being enough on its own- it's such a beautiful print.
    Maybe just the boots.

  4. Gaaa, Sheila is losing her style mojo?!! Alarmed I flipped back to your earlier post too. Whew. Not a serious case at all. In fact, I don't see any signs in these photos of the malady myself. Those boots go all the way up. Love that! Yes, shorter is in order. I've not been visiting, heavy work season...

I saw your picture in the TC - it looks like it was a great time!

  6. I think the necklace is nice with the dress although I would have opted for a V-shaped longer one.
