The Fullness of Skirts, Roses on the Toes

I was happy today to see my spotty hive-legs nearly back to their state of blinding white.
Pasty! (although I prefer pale over tanned).

I actually had this outfit ready to go to wear on Tuesday, but then I remembered that I'd worn the skirt to my WW meeting the last time I wore it (here, emulating a daisy). I loved wearing it again, and liked it with this indigo blue sweater - it let the pattern of the skirt shine a bit more. The skirt reminds me of chainlink fence.
The colour of the sweater is one of those hues that doesn't photograph correctly indoors - the stairs shot is what it really looks like. I last wore it here (blonde!) as part of one of my Ulty quick-change outfits.
I have had many puffy skirts like this over the years, and I've always worn them with a fitted top, and often a belt. It just looks right that way to me.

The stuff:
I am happy to give these awesome wedge platforms their first outing in 2013. I wore them 7 times in the August 2012 capsule (recap here), and they were just as awesome as I remembered. I love the darker red trim, the big rose on the toe and the fun shape over the cork.

Bits and bling:
A slew of sparkly things for my fingers and wrists. Another wear of my Wendy Brandes finger-candy.

Oops, forgot to take my earrings off!
All the red stuff is coral.

Sweater (Smart Set, thrifted), cami (InWear), skirt (Bedo, thrifted), shoes (Miz Mooz, consignment), belt/coral bracelet (Plum), leather cuff (Guess, thrifted), silver bracelets (thrifted), coral earrings (locally made), silver/coral ring (Oscar & Libby's), lapis lazuli/Fulvia Ring (Wendy Brandes).

After work (a crazy day), I bailed on the gym to finish up L's birthday present shopping - I found him some great stuff. I'm so lucky to be married to a guy who's into so many things - he's so easy to shop for! I'll take pictures after he opens everything so you can see all the good stuff I found.

While I was on my shopping whirlwind, I noted that my favourite transient shop re-opened in the mall! I was so excited. They're called Migration (formerly Lotus), and I actually bought the above earrings there. I'm linking here 'cause I love, nothing received in return although I believe Sarah is posting a picture of me she took in the shop - hi, Sarah! The shop carries all local designers, manufacturers and fair trade clothing, jewelry and accessories - they have some gorgeous stuff. I bought several things there when they were Lotus.

Today, I bought these awesome hibiscus flower-under-glass earrings for $25.00.
I really like that they are set in copper. They're made in Vancouver (didn't get the designer's name, unfortunately). I'm still thinking about the shark ring - it was so cool. I might have to go back for it.

Just checked out your last couple of posts which I've missed, and that mushroom maxi skirt remains one of my favourites - and that is high praise, coming from a neutral nay-sayer like me! xxxx

  4. I like all your sparkling things and puffy skirt! (Glad your legs are getting back to normal. From one horrible experience, I remember well how uncomfortable that is!) Happy birthday to your hubby. I look forward to seeing what you gifted him with!

  5. Such a nice outfit! I really like how you've belted the top and worn it over the fuller skirt. I have a few skirts like that (although I haven't worn them in a while) and I always tuck the top into the skirt. I'll need to remember to try it this way instead, it looks really good on you :)

Lovely earrings too! Hope L enjoys his presents :)

  10. Pasty? I prefer pale, natural, and lovely, please :)

I have some full skirts that need an outing. All I've been wearing for weeks is dresses. Because anything more involves effort :P

I love your coral jewelry and new earrings. Can't wait to see what L got!

  11. Happy B-day to DH!

Love that skirt, it looks just as good w/that sweater as it did in the daisy outfit -- black and white skirts are soooo versatile. The color combo in this outfit is really great, never would have put it together myself but it looks fab...the sweater & your frames, the jewelry, and OH MY those shoes...you've done it again (and again and again!)
